So about two days ago i had a metal squeaking coming from my rear drive line. So instinctively i was like **** just blew another u-joint. However i looked at the u joint and it seems to be in good condition(and its only 15K old tops). But the squeaking is definitely coming from that region. I WD the hell out of it and it seemed to make it worse. Any ideas?

* I do have the whole 4-4.5 inches lift in the front but i dont see that being a problem.

shouldn't be the lift, I'm running 8-9 inches and I don't have any issues with the driveline.....yet. Does it make the sound while coasting, or just under engine load?

Mostly under engine load but occasionally while coasting. Also noticed a metallic popping while going from drive to reverse and vice versa occasionally

carrier bearing? being 4x4, you prolly dont have one, but thats the noise mine made when it died.

The 4x4's have a carrier bearing. I had mine replaced at 16k. There's been lots of discussion about them in the axle forum.

My gen 1 truck is located about where the back of the transfer case would be.. I guess they moved it back on the gen 2?
