Sunday i drove home about 25-30 miles in the rain to my house. Truck was parked until noon tuesday . Got in truck and put it in rev and truck did not go anywhere. It was like the e break was set, got out and looked around and nothing was under the tires (long story here). So not know what else to do i gased it a bit and still nothing...gased it alittle more and something popped and i was all set.

Been ok since, only thing i can thank of is one of my brake calibers was stuck on a disk and it let go when i gassed it alittle. is this possible? dont know what else it could be.....any ideas

My old '99 Ranger used to have this happen all the time to the rear drum brakes....sometimes I had to really goose it to break them loose! I've never seen it on disk brakes, but that doesn't make it impossible.

I wonder if he didnt have the gear selector fully in the "R". Maybe just between the gears, then it slid into gear, and that was the "pop" you heard.??? No? Just throwing that out there.

did you have to parking brake set? i had a 94 ford probe gt years ago that would do this. it had rear disc brakes and after they got wet and sat for a while the parking brake would rust and stick. i would keep an eye on it dut wouldnt worry about it.

when you gave it gas did the truck move at all , like the nose of the truck dip as it was working against what ever had it stuck?

I tried forward and rev...got the same result. My first thought was my wife set the e brake but it was not set. as soon i noticed the truck not moving my first thought was the ebrake was set, because thats what it felt like

truck would not move forward or in reverse. when it finally came loose im sure i was close to the 2000 rpm mark. If i wasnt for me hitting the brake quick i would have hit my house in rev.....whatever it was let go quick

Mine did something similiar to me a couple years ago. Right after I broadisded a Buick Le Sabre that ran a red light with nothing blocking my tires I tried to move my truck out of the roadway. In neutral it would roll but when I put it in gear it would just rev up like the transmission was toasted. The body shop that fixed the truck said nothing was wrong with the transmission and it was fine. Do not know what caused it. When I broadsided another Buick Le Sabre 800 miles later it did not do it. Been 40k miles since then and never had it act weird again.

.....So....... you've broadsided TWO Le Sabres? That's funny right there.
Yes both were 2001 models, different wrecks, and both were within the first 1,000 miles the truck got on it. They were both at fault not me. Total cost of both wrecks $23,000. Which is more than I paid for the truck.

sounds like the parking prawl stuck in the transmission. what's the fluid look like?
that^^ was my first thought. a sticky pad can make noise and grind a little but i don't see it holding the truck still. maybe in an extreme circumstance but not sure this was one of them... the "pop" could have been the parking paw releasing. when you select park, all auto transmissions (that i know of) have a metal arm that swings down and locks into a gear and holds the truck still, it will only move far enough for the travel of one tooth on the gear. sounds like it may have got jammed if the truck rolled after putting it in park making it bind. i'd be weary of how the truck feels after putting it in park from now on unless you confirm that it was the brake pads somehow
