Hi everyone i recently acquired a 98 4Cyl 2wd 5spd with a hell of a lot of miles lol its bone stock at the moment but i have a few mods in mind to begin the customization. I joined this forum for guidance in my endeavor and hopes pf meeting like minded individuals to bounce ideas from. I will be doing all mods myself with help of a uncle on the bigger more intense things im not familiar with. If you have some words of wisdom to share with a newbie please do as im new to forums in general. Thanks in advance and lets build ****.

Good looking ride....congrats!

Assuming you're wanting years of future service, establish a baseline for maintenance IE inspect and replace: engine coolant, engine oil, tranny/rear diff fluids, belts, hoses, PCV valve, fuel/air filters, etc...
Inspect exhaust system for soundness/leaks. Tires? Exterior lights functioning safely/legally? Battery connections should be checked & cleaned.

~ Having service records from previous owner(s) will prove valuable in helping to determine your baseline(s).

Good luck...you have discovered a VALUABLE resource in ClubFrontier.org. TONS of archived info here.

I check fluids regularly and so far ive done the oil change and brake pads. Next weekend im changing out the rotors and doing a full tune up, other than that the truck is solid. I got it from my dad and he took really good care of it so im not too worried of mechanical problems arising other than the normal wear and tear stuff that happens to all well used engines what im excited about getting started are the mods

Thanks for the advice brother

Welcome. Some people never worry about some of the maintenance items such as coolant, diff fluid, trans fluid, brake fluid. My dad doesn't I do. Our family corolla never had the previous items changed. Sold the car at 250K and it was still running solid. So maybe I am just wasting time and money.

And as far as your screen name; this?
