Bought my 98 brand new in 99. Still got it with 120k on it. Not sure I will ever get rid of it!! Never breaks, and when it does, it easy to fix. Never had any trouble with it til last year. Washed the motor, fouled the plugs cap and rotor. no biggie

THen....

this fall, I noticed the transmission making noise. Sounded like a throwout bearing. Made the noise in neutral so I put it off (bad idea) then I noticed it did not make the noise in 4th. so I filled up gear oil TOO LATE then it would not go into reverse, now...allz i gotz is 4th gear LOL. the rest are completely gone.

98 frontier 4cyl 4x4 5speed.

my Q to this forum I guess is two part.

A: are there decent places I should look for a remanufactured trans?
B: anything I should know about pulling the old one out and replacing it?problems....etc.) is it a pain?

looks like 7-800 is the going rate for a reman manual trans.
