DT header install: heat shields suck

Received my DT shoty headers earlier this week.
Nick at prerunnerparts offers great service. Good guy to deal with.

The exterior of the headers look great. the welds are "OK". I am not impressed with the blending of the ports. I highly doubt that it will affect performance due to laminar flow. For me, its really a looks thing. The lack of pride of workmanship with these is evident.
There were also ceramic spheres in the collector area that were left over from the coating process. I removed them myself.
It appears that DT has poor quality control.

I installed them because: I wanted them for the drive across the country next week, no time for hand picked ones and they are the only ones authorized for California operation.
If you get them, I highly recommend you purchase new OEM copper crush ring gaskets.

They were a pain to install. Those heat shields are of the devil. They were the most frustrating part of the install.
The exhaust note changed slightly. A friend said she noticed it. There is also a little more power.
Need to have it dyno'ed.

I don't want to make this a bash session and this is not a hit on prerunnerparts.

You DO NOT wrap headers if you want them to last. The headers come ceramic coated inside and out to maximize heat retention inside the tubes. That means the air under the hood is kept much cooler and will help increase mileage and power.

I certainly will not wrap them. That is just a painful procedure. It also holds moisture.
Here are my dyno sheets. Sorry, I don't have a scanner.
The shop I used moved locations and also installed a newer model dyno from the same manufacturer. This makes it hard to accurately compare, not to mention the print formats are different. If I get access to a scanner, I will try to adjust the sizes and overlay them.
As you can see, there is more torque and horses in the lower revs.
The peak torque is about 10 pounds higher. The peak horse is little lower.
I attribute this to the difference in dynos and perhaps more accuracy with the latest one.

Mods: Injen, Xlerator muffler, Cortex 91 tune, DT shorties.

Thanks for posting up. Yeah, it really sucks that there is so many types of dynoes out there. Makes it difficult for comparing gains.
