So I was reading another thread, and it stated the trip reset was the illumination dimmer. I always wondered why this truck didn’t have that. So I got all excited hoping it controlled the stereo in my 2014 SV, but it doesn’t. Here is my question tho, can I unhook the wire that controls the dimming of the headunit? What I would like to accomplish is using my backup camera in the day with the lights on. I am lazy and never turn the lights off, but that make the screen so light it’s useless in the Florida sun. Anybody have any tricks for this?

In the unit settings there is an option for screen brightness and contrast on my 2016. I haven't noticed how it affects when my lights are on or off though...

I did adjust it recently at night though because I could see the screen glare in the rear window and it was bothering me

Yeah I have turned that up. I also went into the diagnostic mode and didn’t see anything there. I guess I just need to get a wiring diagram and pull the headunit and pull that pin. I really hate to do much to this truck now tho, because if they announce a new body style I will likely go buy a pro4x and take my lift, tires, tonneau, and running boards off and put on the new one.

I know on my unit( factory stock nav stereo ) there a button to toggle between day mode and night mode for the screen on the RH side of the unit.

A redesign might dramatically affect parts' compatibility between a Gen 2 and Gen 3. There isn't much compatibility between a Gen 1 and a Gen 2, fwiw.

I was talking about getting a a 2nd gen Pro4x. I love my truck, I just really wanted leather, but didn’t think it was a 6k option.

I know in my 2018 SV, if you put the truck in reverse & press the enter/setting button, you can adjust the brightness of the screen in "back-up camera mode". The brightness settings can also be adjusted separately between have the headlights on or off (in both radio mode & back-up camera mode).
