Okay, my closest dealer is 110 miles away, I have had that dealer work on my truck before when I had them replace my major ground connections... they were tremendously slow and just a big pain to work with, they were suppose to fix my P0420 code, but they didn't, they just kind of "forgot" I suppose... anyways, the cat is starting to fall apart, it's starting to rattle, which is bad...

Should I confront them and tell them to get all parts necessary before hand and tell them to be prepared and set me a date to have it installed in one day ? Or should I go somewhere else/do it myself, etc?

Thanks guys.

p0420/p0430

i have had issues with these codes recently.

i just finished installing "HELP" anti-foulers for the O2 sensors. this has removed my CEL. I am hoping to get it to pass inspection now so i can work on the cats when it's warm and when i have the money...

do a search on the anti-foulers. there is a write up out there with pictures and instructions.

they seem to have worked, although i am still waiting for that damn light to come back on.

also, if you do install them, NOTE: the passenger side O2 sensor ends up being two long with both anti-foulers and the shift linkage hits it and prevents shifting past D. i had to shave off a little on each fouler to make room BUT as i have said my p0420 and p0430 seem to have been taken care of.

Both?!?! Lol

A dealer here wanted $960 to replace both Cats, I think this is outragous.
guess you have the model that only has 2. think of the rest of us owners that have 4!!!!! lol

i have searched the net for prices and found front passenger, rear passenger, and rear driverside cats for about 200. - 250. each.

havent found the front driverside and have been told that the dealer charges 600.+for that.

outrageous isnt the word.....

i learning how to weld and going to straight pipe mine. it will cost just as much if not cheaper, i will have only myself to blame for any issues that arise and i will have learned another new skill.... all ++++++'s in my book.

yes i think they are IF....

arent cats covered to 80k miles or did i dream that?
IF you are still in good standing with your warranty and your service department.

AND your under 80k.

I am at 107k AND i also voided all of my warranties within 6 months due to my hellish experience with the dealershipS(plural).

lets just say i was pissed BEFORE i went in for my 30k maintenance when they surpised me with the 600.+ bill it was gonna cost, like i had that hanging out my ***.

they never warned me or let me know from the last maintenance checkup that the next one, the 30k one, would cost 600.+ as opposed to the 100.-120. it was costing.

well like i said not only was i already upset about nissan, i also had the owner call me personally on a previous occasion with no satisfactory results.

anyways, sorry for the rant, but i just took my keys that day and havent been back.

p.s. i know this is somewhat an isolated occasion and not all dealers will be the same.

Yes my truck has 4 cats.. I think its my PRE cat on bank 1 that is fried and making tingy noises.

Although I'd love to straight pipe it! No emission tests here!
