We went on a road trip last week to maine to see some family, so i had to roll up my tonneau cover for the whole trip. and when i went to roll it back-up last night this is what i saw!!! i have only had this cover on for about 6 months, i don't know if this is normal but its defiantly not right... not sure what to do bring it back to the dealer or just deal with it on fix it... any ideas would be great!!!

If that is paint rubbed off I doubt the dealer will do a thing. You might consider some kind of clear or black barrier tape in that area. 3M make a clear.

ya unfortunately it is the paint, all the way down to the bare metal... it is actually starting to rust alittle, good idea with the 3m stuff. i was just thinking since the dealer installed it they might fix it but it would be A LOT less hassle to just fix it my self

If it was dealer installed, then it carries a 12month/12k warranty on the part and it may extend to any damage caused by the part or their sloppy install skills. I would bring it to their attention and go from there.

After it is fixed either by them or you, then apply the 3m stuff that is also installed on the bed sides infront of the rear tires.

looks to me that it was the buckle that rubbed the hell outta your paint.

Yea my first bed cover did the exact same thing except the cover's frame would strike the cab. The first one that struck the cab was the OEM Nissan one. My new one is a low profile. Now I don’t have the problem anymore. The best way to fix it would be to get some touch up paint and paint over it, the paint is close, I have used in on my bed side where someone egged it and on rock chips. My idea to fix the first cover I had was to move it back and inch or so (never lasted long enough to test it out). It just looks like the buckle rubbed the cab (not a frame strike like mine), I am not sure if moving it back is possible on your model but it my be worth looking. It may limit the buckle rubbing.

i have an access cover but havent seen this happen yet. how the hell can a piece of plastic do that to the paint? Do they put less paint on that part of the body than anywhere else?

Just finished cleaning my '09 up a little while ago, while my wear is not even through the paint, it does show. Thankfully, I keep mine closed most of the time and I know now to make sure I only loosely fasten it, so it doesn't get any worse.
