I have read the threads on hybrid leaf packs and am looking to put together a pack for my 16 CC 4X4 that will provide about 2" of lift over stock to match the prg 2" spacers I have for the front. My truck has almost 33k miles and the springs are nearly flat now. I can't afford a custom spring pack right now and would rather wait until I am ready to lift over 2" anyway. I have searched for used xterra springs and so far am not having much luck without paying minimum $75 each plus shipping from salvage yards. I have noticed that Tacomas don't seem to have the spring sagging issues that our Frontiers have, have a good bit of arch, and are more available used. Has anyone tried using springs from a Tacoma in a hybrid leaf pack?

Edit:Spoke too soon lol, seems they are both 2 3/8" wide.

I seem to recall them being a different width, causing compatibility issues

They will work, but you won't get many leafs from them. You can't use the main unless you cut the eyes off and 2wd springs will only give you 1 additional leaf, 4x4 will give 2.
They also have spring retainers on them so you'll need to bend them out or drill the rivet and remove them. The arch is also very similar to a frontier since gen 2 tacos are spring over as well, so not much lift besides the leaf thickness. There is also a TSB set of springs out there that were bending near the front eye, so watch out for those.

Xterras are a much better choice. Have you posted a wanted thread on the Xterra forums?

Yes. I've posted on two xterra sites in multiple sub forums. I've also posted on Facebook xterra groups. Part of the problem may be where I'm located. I'm seriously considering new ome springs.

Ok, how long have you waited? I had to wait about 2 weeks before I found a set. They are out there, just need to be patient.

Thanks for all of your advice and knowledge. I am a little impatient. Did you get yours free? If not what did you pay or do you think is a fair price for them?
Does it matter if the xterra was 2wd or 4wd?
Also, how long have you been running a hybrid pack now and are they holding up well?

We got ours for free with about 75k on them. Had to drive about 1.5 hours to get them but the price was right. I don't think I would pay more than $100 for a set. 2wd and 4wd should be the same.
I have modified OME Dakars on my truck, I was helping get these for a friend of mine. He has had them on for close to a year now and has been pretty happy with them. Price was right for sure. If I were to do it over again, I would try going this route first before buying the OMEs.

Ive installed 3'AAL to my 1999 Frontier x-cab about two years ago. now I've got broken leafs on one side. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to buy a new set of "rearched" springs. Any suggestions/ideas? I am afraid that it is going to be difficult to match the broken side to the good side w/ the AALs. Maybe i need to look into re-building both sets? I've read into the Xterra spring swap, but it sounds like they were working on second gen's, and I obviously have a first gen. ANY and ALL help/suggestions/ideas on what I should do, or where to learn more would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
