So a few months ago on craigslist I saw a 1st gen frontier that did not have a gear stick in the center console, but rather a column shift on the steering column. Is this a like a really rare frontier or probably some aftermarket modification?

i think its the king cab ones that have that, i havent seen a crewcab with one

My old '00 KC had it. Sold him two years ago - was my trusty blue 'lil mule that went 0-60 in about an hour and a half, but sure was dependable.
