has anyone done the pully mod on thier SCed frontier?

If so what did you think? Pros Cons etc. install, cost, was it worth it?

From what I've been reading, a lot of guys have been doing it. Looks like there's 3 pully's available. 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5.

I'm thinking about doing it, but I worry about the blower bearings. I've been looking into the cost of new bearings, before I do this, and I've seen prices ranging from $150 up to $1000, so I havn't nailed that down, yet.

One thing I've noticed is that with a free flowing exhaust, you acually loose boost, so I'm thinking a 2.5 would bring the boost back to factory.

A 2.4 will give it a little more and a 2.3 will up the boost to around 10-12 psi. I think the 2.3 causes the blower to exceed max rpm under wot, but nobody's reporting any problems. But you know how that goes.

When I do it I think I'm going to go w/the quick change type. Off the top of my head I think that's about $150 w/1 pully. $70 for ea. add. pully. $40 to rent the pully tool or $130 to buy it.

Right now I'm messing w/the air intake. I've got a K&N drop in and I pulled the fender resonator this afternoon. Pulling that res. gave me a little snappier throttle response, but little more.

Have you checked out pulleyboys.com?

Do you think it gets too hot under the hood for the open cone, even w/the heat shield? I don't know, just askin'.

As I said, I've got a drop in, and I've removed the fender resonator (vast improvement at 5K+ rpms, little bit of a torque loss, thou). I'm working on a ram air system, now. Still trying to fab the parts and decide just how I want to do it. Thinking about removing the driver's side fog lamp and using that for an intake. Maybe drop the intake below the light, and leave it in place. Another thought I had was to put a scoop on the fender and duct it straight to it, but then I'd have to drill a 3" hole in my fender. Don't know if I have the hair for that.
Like I said above, I'd only gamble w/the 2.5 pully, if any.
If you're pulling or hauling daily weight, then I'd stay away from resonator mods, intake mods, and free flowing exhausts. Might be ok for an unweighted truck, but w/weight 24/7, you don't want to lose any kind of torque. I removed my fender res., and w/a 500lb load, I noticed the loss right away. It'll run strong to redline though, but the gas mileage is to be had at 3K rpm or less. But we all know how that goes.
Don't know of anybody that's found a chip solution.
