So with all the talk about carrier bearings and u-joints failing, I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is for the best kind of grease for our problematic u-joints to keep them running as long as possible?

Now I'm confused. I asked in another thread if the U-joints were sealed one and was told no. So we don't have zerks on the u-joints?

You can buy aftermarket u joints that come with grease fittings. The factory u joints come without them. If you did have greaseable joints, you use the same grease that is used to lube suspension parts with a grease gun.

Just some odd info that I saw on tv. When installing U-joints with zerks, make sure you put the zerk into compression when the truck is in drive. This is good practice to help eliminate weak points created when the joint is drilled/tapped. If you put the zerk in tension, it could split when you are giving it a bit of gas or have a heavy load or etc...
