I changed the front and rear diff fluid today. The rear was just right for 69K miles - dark & dirty. The front came out a very light tan milky kinda watery look to it.

Any comments on what caused the fluid to break down?

nissan will tell you, its not a closed system and its your fault.
front diff breather is up in engine bay so i doubt you were doing hood submersion.

did my front today as well.it looked the same as yours .no water just kinda white and lots of bubbles.it was cold so i just figured that was why.60000 on mine

Depends on how u drive your truck... as long as nothing more than metal shaving on magnetic u good.

Shows u u have to change fluid more often.

sounds like water, you may want to check to see if your breather hose has come disconnected

it does sound like water and I'll check the breather tube. funny thing is my off roading is limited to beach driving and never even get close to water, let alone sub mergo's!
