Does anyone know where I can purchase new gears for my 05 SE? I am looking to do a lift for bigger tires but I want to do the gears also so that the ratio is correct with the tire size. I want to remain as much as I can to stock without loosing any power. Thanks.

Do you know what the gear ratio on the SE?

SilverSE05, I just realized that we are in the same state. Have you gone out wheeling yet?

looks like the rear axle is a Dana 44, i'm sure you can find a few different manufacturers who have gears for it. I used Richmond gears in my S-10, but i'd go with another company, the Richmonds are kinda noisy.

after looking it looks like summit racing has gears available from richmond and superior, available in 4.09:1, 3.73:1, 4.56:1, 4.88:1, 3.54:1, 4.55:1, i dont know what yours has stock but i'm pretty sure mine came with 3.54:1, but i'd have to double check that.

I think spending a few hundred dollars to re-gear isn't really worth it. My point is if you're going to get 35's then by all means go for it. but since you're not really adding a ton of weight id suggest skip it and spend the money on performance mods instead. Just my .02

d44 gears will not work in our axles. Nissan is tricky about changing things around just enough so that you cant re-gear. As of right now there is nothing you can do about it. The idea about swaping gears from LE, SE, Nismo is about the only thing that I think may work. Even gears out of a Titan will not fit.

Which rear end? I've seen two different rear ends now. I've heard of 3 different possibilities all depending on engine, drive train, transmission and package. I think the Nismo, SE and Xterra OffRoad are all the same rear; supposedly the D44. I've heard the rest are a different differential (C200 or M220).

My rear end is stamped: DANA - and it's in the shape of the "D". The other Frontier at work's rear end is a completely different differential.

I've heard too many theories... And no one to confirm anything.

All 6-speeds have the DANA44 w/3.54 gearing, its also stamped on mine. Their should be aftermarket gears avaible, limited-slip should also be avaible, Ill check around and see, give me some time, work is crazy right now and Iam beat.

From what I understand, while we have Dana44's, they are modified. My 6-speed too has 3.54 on the sticker, and the big D. However, I think we run like 31 spline....and an average Dana44 has like a 30? or 32? Something like that.
