Hey y'all,
I am working on getting a 98 XE running again. It has been sitting for 3 years. I've done all the usual (oil change, oil down cylinders, turned by hand a little, replaced filters, plugs etc.) and the only thing left is fuel. I siphoned out as much of the gas (turpentine) as possible, and my plan was to disconnect the fuel filter and let the pump get out the rest.... except the pump is not working. When I turn the key on, I hear and see nothing. What is the procedure for diagnosing the circuit for the pump? Where's the relay for it? Or would I be wasting my time? The Haynes manual's wiring diagrams are about worthless. I unplugged the 6 prong connector that goes to the pump/sending unit and got voltage on three of the prongs (12v on two of them, ~6v on the other). Oh, and the fuse is fine.
The truck ran when parked. There is evidence of mice in the engine compartment (air box and piping full of junk, they even chewed on the filter a little bit) but I don't see any chewed wires anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated.
