Fuel Door

2340 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  09Fronti6sp4x4
Just a friendly heads up. The pin the the fuel door hinge on Nissans tend to bind up and bend making the door become difficult to impossible to close. I periodically spray it with WD-40 and never a problem. The road salt helps to gum it up more easily. My brother had the hinge twist and the door moved over 1/4 inch and didn't fit in the opening and chipped up the paint.

There is a little flat spring mechanism that pops off of its mount in the middle of the hinge, and causes a loss of tension on the fuel door. You can pull the fuel door off and reset the spring... It will be like new!
Just look at a properly set spring so you know where it sits.
The spring is about $4 if it's missing.
