Thought I would post some photos of the rebuild I did on my 5speed manual transmission. This is the first mechanical project I have ever tackled. It was intimidating considering the most complicated thing I had done up to this point was replacing the shocks and carrier bearing in my truck. With 800 bucks for tools and parts (I didn't even own a ratchet or socket set) and following the service manual to the letter I managed to take that howeling chunk of aluminium and steel, disassemble, clean and replace all the bearings, sycro rings and reassemble it.
Here is the link to all the rebuild photos

Press/installation of transmission

Quite a project! What kind of press did you use? When will the trans go back in the truck?
I bought a 200 dollar 12 tonne press from princess auto which is similar to harbour freight in the USA. The transmission is already in and working perfectly. I also needed to purchase a gear puller and bearing puller/splitter which cost me 200. 150 for sockets a Ratchet and a torque wrench. 300 for bearings and syncros and royal purple manual transmission oil.

Considering a transmission shop quoted me 2500 for a rebuilt trans and 2100 for rebuilding this one I think I saved a minimum of 1100 bucks.
