Good morning, and welcome to ClubFrontier...
I've owned trucks on and off throughout my life and usually end up back in a truck when I realize that I can't haul stuff (even if it's only once in a while).. I bought my new '16 in February, and can tell you it basically came down to bang-for-the-buck value when I was comparing the Frontier to the Colorado and the Toyota (both 7,000 more for fewer options).
The two negatives I can tell you about so far are;
1) The Frontier is -- in all senses -- a "10-year-old" design. It won't have all the neat whizbang technology that something like the brand new Colorado has. Then again, a new Colorado was $7000 more for a 2wd model than I paid for my fully decked out V6 4WD SV model..
2) Coming from a VW Passat (not Diesel) it was a bit of a shock to get 17mpg on my daily commute (as opposed to 25 in the VW).
The pros however FAR outweigh any negatives;
1) It's an incredibly solid truck with plenty of power and torque.
2) It's a truck which opens up all kinds of fun if you do anything outdoorsy (mounting a bicycle or tent to a VW was... "fun")
3) The guys and gals here on ClubFrontier are great and can help you out with any ideas or questions.
4) "modding" your Frontier, whether simply adding a stereo/rims, or swapping out the entire suspension is fun, addictive, and exciting...
4a) reading the forums here will give you hundreds of ideas for making your Frontier truly "yours"..
We'll be happy to help you in any way we can, but please drop back in to let us know what you decide?
