I have owned many Frontiers. My current 1999 4x4 carries a Lance Camper and is wildly overloaded - but it gets me where I want to go
Welcome. I have wildly overloaded both my 96 HB and my current truck. Funny that the payload capacity for the gen1 and 2 are pretty close. Though I feel that wildly overloaded the Gen2s do a little better.

One of the reasons I joined this forum was to hear other people's experience overloading. I'm carrying over 1500 Lbs. I have added a full leaf to the cluster and now it rides high enough, but I have been wondering what I can expect from the rear bearings? Are they able to handle the extra weight? The camper is in the truck full time, but it only gets driven sporadically when we are on trips.

I don't have experience or know of anecdotes about overweighting the frame like that on these trucks. I know they can handle more, I have been over GVW just loading up for my hunting trips but I don't bring any less beer because of it. I do have airbags in my truck to smoothen out the ride when I have over 500lbs in the back. I consider airbags as the best mod to any truck if you haul weight in the bed.

Welcome to CF.
