The discharge hose leaked at the crimped edges. Oh well it is 13 years old. I changed the hose and the drier filter.
Good. Typically one adds like 2 ounces oil when replacing the drier, did you do that? Also, you may have lost more refrigeration oil through that leaky discharge hose, did you make up for that?
I suctioned the system to -25.
That's not good enough, should be over 29-30. And should hold that vacuum pretty much at least a half hour.
Then I charged it with one large R134 can from OReilly's .
Yipes, sure hope that can did NOT contain ANY sealers, or your system might be a big boat anchor now. NEVER add ANY sealers, leak seal, conditioners. Refrigerant oil (correct type and amount), UV dye, and refrigerant (correct amount) ONLY !!! And not just for Frontiers !!!
The system turn on and is cooling. My low side reads 38 PSI. Everything seems to be working fine. I would like to know it I filled it adequate, or if its too low. Like I said it is working good. Bye the way ambient air temperature was 82 degrees F.
How many ounces was that can, and did most of it get into the system? My 2004 Frontier underhood label states 1.43 pounds R134a, so about 23 ounces R134a.
Did you read both low and high side pressures at about 1500 rpm? How's the Frontier's fan clutch? Are all the fan shrouds present?
Refrigeration work is more involved than you might think.
