Hi!! I'm greyzland owning a 2000 FrontierSE KingCab, brand new when I got it in Aug 2000, I got it becoz I was attracted to the design, old school with chrome front bumper...
I was a bit disappointed with its performance, low pressure hose of aircon breakdown at 38,200 mi, spent $600 at the Nissan dealer because they said it is out of warranty, stuck in the freeway at 42,000 miles, mechanic said it was the knock sensor per its findings, changed the knock sensor, still stalling, changed another part, changed spark plugs, changed spark plug wires all in all I spent $2,000 at 42,000 miles!!! Nevertheless, it was never returned to its original state, still kept on stalling, low gas mileage. The mechanics at the Nissan dealer has never solved what the problem was though he test drove it and can feel the stalling yet nothing registers in its test machine.
The passenger side exhaust manifold was changed at 65,000 mi when the mechanic at dealer diagnosed when I brought it complaining of some odor inside the truck. When I had it smogged at 72,000 the OBD was completely dead. It was good thing my friend informed me that the OBD is covered by warranty up to 80,000 mi and the dealer changed the OBD at no cost. It never has been restored to its running state, 11-12 mi per gallon city driving. Now it has 105,000 mi and I noticed it was running at 9 mi/gallon, my friend mechanic tested it on his machine and it registered knock sensor again and some oil leakage on the head cover. I'm having the knock sensor changed and the timing belt changed since it is due per manual at 105,000 and change all the gaskets....
I'll keep you posted what happens next.... I'll keep this truck because of it looks.... My nissan sentra lasted me 12 years and 118,000 mi before my son totaled it..... imagine the original battery of this sentra lasted 9 years before it was changed...man !! that is called QUALITY!!!
