Hello Guys,
After much searching I took my 07 frontier TO A reputable transmission place. I was told the valve Body needed replacement. Once they said How much it was going to be " as long as nothing else was wrong" I ran for cover.
So I know if I remove the pan and whatever oil comes out I can see the type of Valve body I need to get. Is there any other way of finding out?
I can get a used one on Ebay but scince my Frontier is an SE and is not a 4x4 I wanted to know if there is any other way to make sure I get the right one. Believe it or not, I have been driving the truck on 3rd gear for up to 40MPH because as long as I do that even with all the codes for every solenoid on the list it drives and shifts perfectly. It will only go on Limp mode if I DRIVE ON D and even then if I shut off the Truck and re start it it will drive perfectly for about 3 minutes before going back to limp mode.
So, they said that everything else they checked looked good. No evidence of antifreeze mixing with oil etc.
Im willing to switch the valve body myself. However, DO I HAVE TO HAVE THE DEALER reprogram the replaced valve body?
in Summation, any other way that I can find out which valve body I need without taking anything apart? It looks like the most common one around is the RE5R05A ONE. dOES IT MATTER if the Frontier is 4x4 OR 2X2 FOR THE VALVE BODY?
Must it be taken to the dealer to get reprogrammed? (btw, im getting a used Valve body that was tested prior to removal and cleaned with a warranty and not a new or refurbished one)
Im in Queens NY and its a little cold but If I can save some money it would be great.
P.S I GO BACK AND FORTH to Maryland and NY. I only have been using the Frontier in Maryland (because It drives fine in local Traffic if I leave it in "3") Would I be correct to assume that if I drive it to NY (4.5 hour drive) I will damage the Transmission even more if when no traffic I skip to Drive and continue on Limp Mode?
Thank you all...:crying:
