:hi:Hey everyone. Always been a jeep owner w/ a sports car for summer. well got sick of 10 miles to the gallon, rough ride, and leaking tops. stop into the dealership to check on my 370z and say a black 4dr Black Frontier Nismo. Well took it for a test drive and loved the interior, room, power and all the other options. Went home , got on the laptop and say what they could be come. Next day I was back at my dealer trading in my built 4dr jk runicon unlimited and now got a new project. so now the build shall start. already know my game plan for this cause I must have it lifted and mean but finally a bonus of a smooth ride and power. stay tuned I wont let u guys down.
Thank You and Hello

I feel ya. But I want to drive by gas stations not stop

I did the same thing. I loved my Rubicon though...

My "old" Rubicon.

I miss it sometimes, but I sold it for several thousand more than I paid for it new a year and over 15k miles later.

Story:
http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f7/new-colorado-55593/

Btw, my Rubicon rode better than my Frontier. I like the Frontier's steering and power a lot better though...
I hear ya bro. I had dumped almost 16k into mine w/ everything. even wit the ripp sc, 5.13's,mrbp exhaust I still felt under powered pushing 37's and climing up and out of it was becoming a chore. I figure for a sweet smooth driving vehicle w/ 5" of lift 35's and a plush refined interior Ill be happy. Plus I made a killing on the trade and got my 08 nismo wit only 13k on it. Plus I dont miss 10mpg....But it will always have that special place in my heart

Thanks bro i appreciate it. All advice is more than anted and welcomed. Just once I would like to build a vehicle right the first time around. Lost so much money buying mods, being unhappy, selling for 1/2 of what i paid just to replace it. So PLEASE tell me whats they way to go so I only have to do this truck once. Now this is my 1st truck as well as frontier. Now it is a NISMO, i now what that meant wit my z's but totally lost on what I gained by buying the Nismo version of the truck. Whats the bonus..besides the sticker and price.

Wow! Sweet lookin' Rubi! The 35s are too much for me though. If i had to decide, i would have kept the rubicon and replaced the tires with some 33s.

Thanks cause the lift and tires are my 1st stage then performance. I want 35's and was going w/ the calmini lift 5". The Titan setup your directing me too..Will I gain the clearence equal to or greater than the cal 5"??? Like I said I want it lifted and look good but keep the ride that made me fall in love w/ the truck. I still find myself not knowing where to start suspension wise. Rims and tires all good and already purchased as of 6 hours ago. Now I need someone to help get me vertical. Main goal is to clear the 35's, keep a nice ride..Dont mind spending the $$$ if its worth it. Always a firm believer of u get what u pay for. Just dont know what to buy. Jeep building was easy from doing it for so many of them. I need u guys to tell me what works. Weird being a rookie again but PLEASE teach me from your mistakes, experiances, and success. THANK YOU!!! :crib:

First off, you're not going to be happy with the loss of power and mpg from the 35s. We don't have gears for our front diff and at the moment neither does the titan. Second, you'll need to either do MAJOR alterations to the wheel well, or at least the melt mod or get some glass. The Titan Swap will give you more clearance, because it doesn't have the drop bracket like the calmini. But the highest you can go with a titan swap for a 4x4 is 4", according to PRG. But you will be getting more travel. If i were you, i'd be thinking about a Titan front Differential, since you'll be running those heavy 35s. Greg from PRGProducts.com can answer all your questions.

Came stock w/ 33's and was to small. then added the 2.5" lift w/ 35's and still wasnt happy. Then went to Poly Performane Stage 3 5" lift and 37's. One thing that really made me start to dislike my rubi was 3.8 200hp minivan engine.God I miss the TJ 4.0 inline 6. Then even after the SC and gears I started dumping 120 plus a week on gas. The next step was the HEMI swap and another 18K wasnt going into it. Started over w/ this. I use them for my winter ride and a summer trail ride. My z keeps me smiling all summer long. Love my nissans. So I figured i would give a truck a try

If I drop the 35's and throw on my stock rubi 33's that i still have w/ 100 miles on them and the cal lift u think it will look ok or too small...Man talk about my bubble bursting:censor:I figured w/ 5' of suspension 3" of body and CAI,Exhaust,Chip I would be ok....what i was trying to prevent I did in the first 3 days. Great start huh:comphead:

Nice looking Heep. LOVE the AEV wheels and RIPP SC. Those mrbp exhausts are great quailty too.

I definitely miss the MyGig Nav, 6 Speed, and removable top, but I love my Frontier and having a truck bed so its all good...
Good thing we decided to keep my girls in the family.

The stock Rubicon tires are 32s, but you can fit 33s with just a leveling kit or 35s with 2.5" of lift. 4" if you really want to flex it out offroad. JKs have HUGE wheel openings.

I was planning on putting a leveling kit, 33s, and an AEV or ARB front bumper on mine before I was offered way too much money for mine and sold it.

Welcome to the group.

The main thing you gained the with Nismo over an SE/LE is that you have a locker and some cool stickers.

If you want to run 35s, you are going to need to re-gear to kee pthe power. Now, nobody makes gears yet for the front diff but you can do what Penski did and swap in gears from another 4wd Frontier (manuals usually run taller gears, we have a thread on what gears each model has). The only issue with this is that you still have the r180 front diff which may or may not hold up to the 35s. You can swap in the Titan m205 to help with that but they are limited to 3.36 ratio right now.

You may or may not need to Titan swap the front but if you do, you may run into fender issues.

If you are looking into the Calmini or Fabtech lift you may want to wait a little bit. PRG has been reported to be coming out with his own drop bracket lift and it should be better and possibly cheaper. Plus, he will probably also offer coilovers to go with it since the other options just give you a huge spacer which is crap.

To be honest, it would probably be best that you spend some time surfing the suspension area and look to see what has been done and figure out who's setup you like best and follow their threads. Once you figure out what you want, lay it out in a thread and be open to suggestings.

There are a lot of options out there so narrow down the type of wheeling you will do and we will let you know our opinions on what will be beneficial or not.

Nismo Off Road= Better suspension, E-Locker, Nismo interior and a Nismo Off Road sticker.

Oh no... Rims & tires 1st?????
The ride is 10x better with the Titan swap than what the stock Nismo ride is, so if you go that route you wont be disappointed.

No, no, you could still save yourself. Check out Andy with his Calmini lift and Titan Swap. I love his set up. And get some glass fenders, so you could fit those tires, or do some major work. Skip the body lift, because the calmini and the swap will give you up to 8-9". But, I'm sure you can run the 35s without a Calmini lift (4" lift Titan), but you will still need new glass fenders. CAI and Tuner/Chip is a good investment. I'd do a little more research on the exhaust part. IMO, it didn't help with anything.

I'm with you on the BS switch they did with the mini-van engine. I hope they bring back the legendary 4.0 and improve their #s.

Thank You everyone! Cant thank you enough. I switched to the frontier to save cash on gas because 10 mpg SUCKED! I wont be wheeling with this truck, still have my girls twin rubi to my old one,I just wanted this to look a little tough w/ a lift and tires. So would 33's on this titan swap be sufficent to look good? 33's look sweet on the xtra can but how bout on a 4dr? THANK YOU AGAIN EVERYONE!
