I've had the truck two years and I could've sworn I looked under the bedliner when I bought it but I guess I didn't. Took the liner out to clean underneath and found this:

It is enough rust through to be an issue, but not enough for me to buy another bed. Has anyone he luck replacing panels or just parts of panels?

I hate bed liners. I never leave them in. I have one for my truck, but I only put it in when I'm doing something that will damage the bed. I only leave the tailgate portion on all the time.

When parking outdoors, park facing uphill so moisture will not run underneath it.

Found the same thing on mine just a few months ago.

The seam sealer seems to be the culprit. Moisture gets in behind it, starts things rusting and then the seam sealer just gives up the ghost. It looks like Nissan applies it after the panels are fastened together, so its not IN the seam, its just on the outer edge of it.

I found a somewhat-better-condition used bed, removed most of the existing seam sealer and re-sealed it with 3M seam sealer. Couldnt take the panels apart to get in between them but I at least used putty knives, etc to try and squeeze the sealer into the actual seam instead of just around it.

And Ill be pulling my bed liner out once or twice a year to get rid of the stuff that inevitably ends up behind it. I think the rust was caused mostly by moisture and salt rather than dirt or rocks, but its not THAT hard to take the liner out so Ill do it anyway.

All seam sealer is applied after the panels are spot welded together regardless of brand.

The only cure / preventive to the issue of rust is to NOT run a drop in bed liner.
