i picked up a lift kit from AC with UCA's and a single add a leaf. i'm going to do the installation myself. i see with the spring pack it comes with a longer pin and spring, but not u-bolts.

my question is, will the single leaf require a longer u-bolt? i've heard that any time you take the u-bolt off that you should replace it - is this correct? are there any other parts that are required for the add a leaf?

thanks...

the general rule is you should replace the u-bolts for fatigue and safety reasons, yes. the stock ones should be long enough to accomodate one more leaf - have a good look and determine that one on your truck.

Should be no issues, its just the single AC leaf, and you can go without new U-bolts on the PRG 2-leaf upgrade, so unless you got extra short u-bolts from the factory you shouldnt' have to worry about getting longer ones, mind you going to a beefier set of U-bolts won't really hurt either

I just finished this same lift and did replace one of the four U bolts due to a nut that seized and would not come off. My question to add to this is should you keep the overload spring or not? I left mine off because I had no idea how to add the new aal to the pack with the overload spring. I do plan to tow, but for now i left it until I could figure out how to add it back on. My U bolts that I reused without the overload spring obviously were long enough, I could see that there would be enough bolt for you to keep them and to use with the new leaf. Did you also go with shackles? I did and man, its almost too much lift with the combo. I may take the shackles off and see how it performs. Good luck and take your time with the install. it took me three days to do mine. I had to track down new camber bolts, and had a new u bolt made though.
