Does anyone have a chattering sound comming from wheel well? Or is it just me? I dont have the shrouds in there anymore and I replaced all gaskets, Flang's for cat's and headers themselves.......... Any input would be helpfull.
Just wanna make sure its not an exhaust leak, I was thinking of air flowing through and chatter is from cams?

I have the DT shorties with a 2 into 1 Xlerator muffler and all 4 OEM cats.
Does this sound occur at idle?
For me, what sounds like an exhaust leak appears to be just the sound of my exhaust.
I had a friend restrict/plug the exhaust with a soccer ball while I was under the truck listening for leaks. There were none I could find.
If I stand towards the rear of the truck and have someone blip the throttle lightly, the tailpipe makes the sound that I hear as leak.

It happens at idle, but doesn't get any louder as I accelerate. I can hear the sound bounce off of dividers, cars, etc etc as I am driving. I also dont have the wheel well shroud in so maybe thats why the ticking its so loud?

I get that with my GIBSON. Or rather, what's left of my Gibson. The muffler itself went out in less than 10K miles. Replaced with Magnaflow. But kept Gibson exhaust/tailpipe.
Now get chirping noise when idling in gear. If I put in neutral/park, noise disappears. Or I have cousin Earl get out, place his size 12 Tony Lama on chrome Gibson extension and push rearward. Noise stops. But a week later, or 2 comes back.
Looking to replacing entire catback. Thinking JBA, but latest reading is leading me toward new Flo-Pro (2 in, 1 out) No Y-pipe. Or new Magnaflow (not yet available) with no Y-pipe, crossover muffler. The NISMO catback is darn hard to find...and $$!

This is a sound that comes from running headers. You're exactly right. It's a combination of the exhaust gases rushing through the headers with a slight bit of cam noise.

Does anyone think header wrap would camouflage the noise a little?
