I recently installed a 2.25 inch flow-master super 44 muffler on my 2003 Frontier Crew Cab, SE, Long bed, 4x4. Muffler is extremely quiet, cant tell a difference over stock in the cab. When I am backing out of my garage and windows down I can barely hear it. I am disappointed with how quiet it is. I windows up/down 1000-5000rpm it sounds just like stock. I seriously think I installed it backwards or something... I will check tomorrow. I welded it in where the factory muffler was then made a new tailpipe that longer... (stock muffler was almost 3 feet long!!!!)

I am disappointed right now. I'm thinking if I gut my secondary cats it will get a little louder and I can actually hear it too, I'm not sure if anyone else is running this setup on their truck and can add input but at this point i'm disappointed.

Also one other note, I have a 1/8-1/4in thick Line-X spray on bed liner...

The NISMO is louder right out of the box. The muffler was about 3/4" size of stock. I was hoping that it was a bit quieter.

One thing I've yet to do is to eliminate the 2nd cats.

Personally I dont think a flowmaster Is going to get any louder with time, Its a solid no packing welded muffler. There isnt any fiberglass or steel wool packing to loosen up over time....

The muffler is installed correctly, I think I might gut my secondary cats, that will add a little more sound to the system Im sure.

I wish 4x4 parts sold some sort of test pipes... It sucks because no exhaust shop where I live will remove emissions equiptment (even though we dont have inspections in nebraska or surrounding states...)

I had a flowmaster on mine for about 3 years, it never got any louder untill one day the tail pipe rotted and fell off right at the muffler. Then it sounded great. to bad the muffler fell off 2 weeks later:)

I wish my Nismo was a little quieter. I have a nice sound system and dynamatted the whole cab to drown out the muffler noise. Overall I'm happy but want to get a quieter muffler.
Yeah once you hit 70 it sort of sounds like the muffler has a hole in it. Since you dynamatted the whole cab did that help? I sort of wished for a quieter muffler too, but hey I am not redoing it.

For louder with stock cats, remove the muffler and get a fiberglass packed resonator tip. I did that on a 93 GMC and it had a good rumble.

yeah straight piped v8 does sound good. this is a v6 dude. its gunna be whiney and poppy as hell

i have a magaflow on my 04 and it sounds good. its weird i thought a flowmaster would be louder than than any muffler as magnaflow seems quiter than any other muffler.
yeha i dont get it flowys are loud. i cannot see how this dude thinks a super 44 sounds stock because it doesnt.

yeah, i love my magnaflow, not too loud but a deep tone. a v6 sounds like crap with a high flow exhaust but mine sounds good with the 4 cats and manifolds, don't know how it'd sound with headers and high flow cats though.
