If you have no engine noise then most likely it is just the sending unit.

what did your gauge look like when it was flickering (i assume you mean the oil light, not the gauge itself?). i would also start with the OSU

After I drove it on Friday I noticed the gauge would drop when the engine was idling. When the gauge went between the two lines at the bottom, the oil light lit up or flickered. I replaced the pressure sensor today. I have not tested it thoroughly yet but I hope that solves the problem. I ended up paying full price for the switch but that's cool.

The switch did not fix the problem nor did changing the oil filter. It only does it at idle once it's at operating temperature. I took it to the dealer to have them look into it. I'm thinking the oil pump might be failing.

keep us updated. since they will have to tear the engine down pretty far, considering replacing the timing chain at all while they have it off?

I found out that my engine oil pump was failing. Will be replaced under warranty. It's a good thing I wasn't on a long road trip. It seemed to work fine while driving but did not pump enough oil during idle.

useally the relief spring weakens alittle at lets the pressure dip at idle. I ported/radiused my pump and shimmed the relief spring when I had the engine out last year

not really, its not too common and if your werent in warranty I would have said to switch to say a 10w-40. We have this issue on some Jaguars with VVT operation. But I just do a switch from 5w-30 to 20w-50. Works to fix that issue every time and basiclly is free next time oil is changed
