Hey everyone.. I got the opportunity today to take off from work a little early and take my truck down to the beach for the first time.. I bought the truck at the end of January, and only had a couple of moderate snowfalls to take it in 4WD up until now, and this was the first 4WD vehicle I have ever owned or driven.. I'm on Long Island, so this was on the Atlantic Ocean (Smith Point to Moriches Inlet for you locals)
I have to say, I had a great time.. I brought a friend with me that was familiar with driving that stretch, and the Frontier performed flawlessly. On quite a few occasions, the ABLS kicked in -- which threw me for a loop initially, until I realized how the ABLS system works. For those unfamiliar with NY ocean beaches, we have thick, white sand beaches. Took the truck the entire length of the beach from Smith Point out to Moriches Inlet. Had one bit of driver error coming back when I tried to stay to the side of a freshwater pond and ended up giving the truck some new pinstripes from the brush on the side of the trail. It looked much worse when it happened since the truck was covered in green pine tree pollen when I took it down. After I got it home and washed up, the real damage just ended up being two or three small scratches that I can take care of with the DA polisher.
