So I've been lurking these forums for a couple weeks now and it seems like a really cool place. So I thought I'd take the plunge and give an update on my experience so far, and ask a question or two...

So I've had the truck for a few weeks now, seems to be running great. I drive about 25 miles to work (mostly highway, but with traffic) and I'm getting 17.5 mpg, so that's reasonable.

The truck was a lease, and only had one owner, and I have records of dealer performed oil changes and what not from the carfax... and it looks like from what I gather I should be preparing myself for some fluid changes soon here...

I put in a K&N drop in, and vacuumed out my cabin filter (for now, I'll be replacing later)

Tranny and both diffs (would a drain and refill with Mobile1 be sufficient?)
Maybe do the brakes too?

Let me know any other things I should be considering... Thanks!

Depends on the mileage and all that good stuff. But swappin out all the fluids and all that is a good start.

Our trannys MUST have the exact oil it needs or you WILL KILL IT!!!! And our trannys are well over $5,000. Dont wanna make that mistake. There is a guy on here... dubie. He is the go-to guy on this. I have seen him discuss it here many times......

On second thought, Click the search button at the top of the page. Type Auto tranny fluid in the GOGGLE one. And 1,000,000,000,000 threads should pop up. post up if you cant find whatyour looking for.

Yeah, I've got 40k miles on it now... So I'm thinking fluids at 50k...

And I've seen many of those threads about Amsoil and Mobile1 and J matic and all that noise... I'd probably just try and pickup OEM stuff ... Although going synthetic does have its appeal to me.

I was going to go full synthetic on oil, but my dealer does oil changes with all nissan parts for 20 bucks using conventional... Hard to beat that, even if I find myself there a bit more often.

I won't ask for any fluid recomendations, but how about tools that make changing those fluids easier??? I'm pretty sure I saw someone on here doing a change with a neat little pump that screwed right on the bottle of fluid almost like a giant thing of hand soap or something... Any thoughts?

Oh man, you don't even know... I would love those so much. But I can't justify it as just a DIY'er. In addition, I've got a damn wedding this year... Pretty sure the other half would have some choice words for me... But on the plus side I probably wouldn't have a wedding to worry about anymore if I got them...Hmmmm

Oh I've got a Craftsman set already, I've got all kinds of "Joe schmo" tools... I guess maybe I should have phrased that better...

I'm looking to know if there are any cool specialty tools/ gadgets to make things easier on me when I decided to change them out.
