so me and a fellow installer were goofin around with some relays at work today (yup it was slow) and decided we wanted to be cool like GM and have retained accessory power for out stereos, here is a ghetto lookin hand drawn diagram and some photos of it all, if you want to do it and need to know where to locate certain wires or whatnot lemme know i can look it up.

this will keep your radio on untill you open your door:fantastic:

when I first got my s-10, I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why the stereo stayed on when I turned the key off before I finally turned it off thinking someone screwed up the stereo. (it was a used truck), one day, I was in a hurry and opened the door before I turned off the radio and it went off. Nice feature I guess, might as well make one to leave the headlights on for a few minutes after you turn them off. and if you get really bored, make one that will turn the radio down to a toleratable level when I get home listening to the music too loud and forget.

ya im sure 12volt has em, and there are all kinds of things, i even have a book at work that im sure its in (has all sorts of things you can do, even make an alarm withremote start outta relays) but its also fun to figure it out yourself, and i know this works, vs. finding some random diagram done by whoknows on the web and lettin people on here that may not be familiar with relays see it and try it. This works, its easy and i just thought id share it with the community ;)

i saw some of these things on MP3's website. those guys installing PC's use them to shut down the computer and even start them. you wouldnt believe what you can do with relays, wire and some resistors. how they figured these things out is beyond me and im pretty good with electrical items.

i want the illuminated entry like GM has.....headlights and backuplights come on when you unlock
if you have an aftermarket alarm/keyless entry system i can get you the diagram to do that, im not sure how easy/hard it would be with a factory one, as im not sure how they work

haha, yeah that is some deep shi* right there. Took me FOREVER to get the computer powered entertainment system I installed in my rodeo to turn on and off accordingly with the vehicle quickly and with a failsafe so it doesn't run my battery dead. . . Mini-box.com has lots of cool programmable switching relays for these sorts of products for not too much of a price... can be used for lighting, computers, audio systems, etc...
