Hey, everyone -
It took a bit to get all the pieces together but finally got it all done.
Bought my truck in March of 2017. About a week after I got it I got new speakers which helped it sound a little better but there's only so much that can be done with the stock deck.
The speakers I'm running are:
- Kicker 6.5" front door speakers
- Kicker 6.75" rear door speakers
- Rockford Fosgate 1" tweeters in the dash
I used this thread and created the tweeter mounts: http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f24/dash-speakers-10174/
Next up, I recently bought a Kenwood DDX374BT touchscreen head unit which I absolutely love.
- axxess aswc-1 wired up to keep the controls
- new microphone routed center on the dash
- under seat bypass done (only thing I get can't get working right is the phone pick up - just simply hangs up - which is whatever since the Kenwood is touchscreen)
- dvd reverse bypass done which enables dvd's to be played while driving (will use this with the gf when we take a roadtrip or something)
Lastly, I recently picked up a Cerwin Vega underseat subwoofer. I've had several systems in my vehicles but all of them required a sub which took up trunk space which I'm not willing to give up in my Frontier. I've looked at a few for the last few months and finally pulled the trigger on this one. Recently installed it today and got everything working. The sub itself fits fantastic under my passenger seat. With the seat back you wouldn't know it was there if it wasn't for the power wire (i almost ran it under the carpet but decided not to).
I ran the power wire from the battery around the engine bay...cut a little slit on the driverside boot...and threaded the wire through. Then routed that around the passenger side, under the carpet, and clipped with the kick panel. Worked great.
The RCA's are run under the center console.
The Remote wire is run with the power wire.
Ground wire is grounded with the passenger seat rear bolt.
First off, it sounds fantastic. I had very low expectations with this unit. I've had 15" Kicker L7's, JL W7's, JL W6's, Alpine Type R's, etc etc etc...which are super loud, so when I went with this underseat I really didn't have high hopes. No, this will not shake your mirrors...it will not shake the vehicle next to you...it will not rattle anything. However, it will pair very nicely with all types of music and give just enough bass to "complete" a setup where the goal is to simply sound good.
The unit is self contained...200w rms...10"...and you will need an amp kit to install it. I used a Rockford Fosgate 8ga kit which worked perfect.
I've attached a couple pics to give you an idea but yeah...very happy with this overall setup.

Underseat sub with seat forward
Sub with the seat back
Anyway, yeah...all done!
I'd recommend the unit for anyone that is looking to get a little bass in their vehicle but not willing to sacrifice any room.
