[Frontin]

anyone done any fiberglass in side yet? like door panels, kicker panels, dashes sub boxes whatever?

i just bought all the stuff tonight to do a fiberglass center concle. its going to have 2 10" woofers mounted, 4 cup holders, mounts for switches, and a mount for the rockford fosgate bass knob. im really exciting ill paint it silver to match the out side of the truck.

if it turns out well im going to move on to kicker panels and door panels, but i dont think im going to attempt the dash any time soon.

but if anyone else has some fiberglass in their fronty id love to see it! and snatch a few ideas. thanks.

wow not a thing huh? am i paving another trail for the frontier world lol.

i changed my mind a little bit, i took out the rear cup holders and extended the concle 5 inches back. and im going it in 2 pieces, i have the first layer of fiberglass layed down and drying now on the 1st peice. ill get some pics in a couple days.

I have been playing with carbon fiber, I haven't ventured to the frontier yet..
but does look nice, what are you using as your mold?

i didnt make a mold, i made a frame, and then fleeced it and then fiberglassed it. its a lot easier than making a mold. and then you can get a better idea of where your going with it. and i took the stock center concle out and used that for the main part of my frame, just cut it up, and i also cut my sub box up and used part of that. heres a few pics of the progress.

its look pretty ruff lol, im waiting for that last layer of fiber to dry so i can sand it and get some of the shape back. it went kinda square on me. but you can kind of see the 2 circles where the sub will be mounted. once it drys and i can get it all sanded those will stand out more and it will have some more curves and stuff. deff will look a lot cleaner lol. then i just got to cut out the cup holders, the sub holes, and bondo it up and paint it.

okay well heres the lastest, looking a little better. sucks working 12 hours a day, i leave in the dark and get home in the dark so i cant work on this thing much. so tuesday when i have a day off im going to get it all bondo'ed up and sanded so its all nice and round and then it wont look like anything from a alien movie any more!! lmao!! and maybe wednesday if im lucky i can paint it.

any crap thing is my amp quit working so ill get this all done and i cant even use it lol, it will be for looks only for al ittle while i guess.

well shitty weather got me the afternoon off! lol so i put a layer of bondo on the box, and ran out of bondo before i even covered the whole thing... and im flat broke after buying a new amp. so it will prob be like 3 weeks before i get this thing done now... yay... lol

heres a little update.

still needs a full coat of bondo, before i can get it looking smooth and round. but its getting there slowly but surely.

its gonna look goofy untill i get that front piece around the shifter and stuff matching but oh well.

i get paid this friday but i doubt ill have enough for some more bondo, so prob 2 more weeks and it should be done.

so far it was looking pretty good how was the finished product? these are some pics of the fiberglass boxes i made for mine they came out pretty good for my first time trying fiberglass. let me know how yours turns out i was thinking about extending my console into the back to hold the amp and sirius controler. so i'd love to see how it looks.

I think it probably went by the wayside since he bought a new frontier but it would be interesting to see if it works in his new Frontier!!

yup that project went bye bye a long time ago when i bought the new fronty. sorry guys. never got it finished. and im not going to tear up the interior of my new one, i like it how it is. sorry!

I know this is an older thread but I am currently working on a setup for my 06 kc nismo, four 12" pionners powered by a 2000w rms soundstream amp. full fiberglass box. hoping to it a screen and a xbox 360 floating in the middle of it all... here is a pic of a similar set up we did for a friends S-10
