I have an 03 4x4 Frontier stock everything. I'm looking to get some cheap black daytona, or cragar 16x7 6x5.5 wheels. I'm going to be leveling the truck also, what is the biggest offset i can go without causing problems. and also without having to use spacers

is -12mm to much?

Thanks!

I have to ask - why?
Not only will this chip all the paint off your fenders, but keep in mind what effect this has on your suspension. The farther out you put the wheels, the more stress you put on everything. That kind of offset acts like a lever - wheel bearings, ball joints, etc. are all going to wear prematurely.

Not sure with yours being a 1st gen, but mine's like +30. Just browsing tire rack, it looks like maybe +10 or so? Of course going wider than stock can change things too. Hopefully others will chime in here....

Ok, there realy is like 10 threads on here debating the thought of if wider was bad or not.

I will say BOTH sides make valid arguments. I'm not taking sides here, youcan decide for your self. but at least from the people on here, and there is a fair a mount of members on here with wider off set, rimes, and or/wheel spacers.
Also the "Titan swap" is a popular mod for our trucks.

There is also very few (none that I know of, just assumeing there is) threads reguarding that pre-mature wheel bearing failure had happend.

Just throwing that out there.....

^^ By using a more negative offset without either upgrading the suspension components (better coils) or by installing wider control arms (titan swap) you increase your scrub radius which, like toryroyce said acts like a lever on your wheels bearings and hub. Now unless you drive your truck incredibly hard around corners and jump it like a wild a$$ indian I doubt you'll have any problems.

I agree, but there is next to no threads that talk about pre-mature ware on wheel bearings.

And EVERYONE has wheels with wider off set.

The more negative the offset the more the wheel looks the more the mounting point to the hub is pushed in, the more "deep dished" the wheel looks. Going from +30mm to 0mm will have this effect.

Plenty of members on this forum, and even other guys who own trucks put on wheels with more negative offset and even negative offset and have zero wheel bearing or hub issues. Of course it can cause more strain on parts, its almost never enough to cause major issues. The only foreseeable problem is the further the tires stick out, the more sh!t gets flung at the sides of your truck. I'm not sure how you use your truck but that will affect it.

Well I don't for one Jordo.
Not trying to give you a hard time, but just because there are no threads on this forum doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist. The more you push the wheel outward (negative offset) the more it pushes the wheel off the bearing's centerline. This will eventually act as a lever on one side of the bearing. I agree that small changes are not going to cause issues. But taken to extremes it cetainly can. Give this a read for some insight. Wheel Backspacing And Offset - Four Wheeler Magazine
