Sorry to make a new post if someone else has mentioned the same problem. A quick search didn't reveal much.

I must start by saying I'm not mechanically inclined and know almost nothing about frontiers in general.

I've got an 03 with the supercharger. While backing into a parking spot earlier tonight my engine suddenly shut off and won't start. Engine cranks but doesn't catch. With the key just sitting in the ignition in the on position i get battery, service, and oil lights on (not sure if that matters), checked all fuses they all seem to be fine. I'm not sure if its just because I've never really heard the engine turn over for longer than a rev or two before catching but it doesn't quite sound right. My milage is past due for the timing belt (haven't had the money, story of our lives), is this the problem? Could it be something else?

Any responses appreciated. And happy holidays.

If it's turning over, but sounding like it's turning fast w/no resistence, hard to explain the sound but it's distinct, but it could be the belt skipped some teeth, or broke. Quit turning it over and get thee to a mechanic (continuing turning it over will only make things worse).

You say your not mechanically inclined, so pulling the dist. cap and watching the action of the rotor wouldn't mean anything?
Same with bringing #1 piston to top dead center and checking that the rotor points to #1 terminal and the crank marks are right.
While #1 plug is out check to see if you've got fire. Don't forget to put the dist. cap back on, first.

Until you're sure the belt's ok you only want to turn the engine by hand.

On my 01 SEDR I installed some backup lights directly off the backup light wire with no relay. After a short time it blew the fuse for the factory backup lights. That circuit had something to do with the starting of the truck because like yours it wouldn't start. All the dash lights came on but no start. If I remember the fuse was in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. Hope this helps.
