I installed a Garmin Nuvi 760 in the unit I just purchased. I can still input data while moving (which I seldom do because it isn't safe LOL)I know that they have pre-loaded S/W, but I thought it was only for safety reasons. I know Nissan makes Garmin put special S/W which prevents users from inputting data while the vehicle is moving, but I wonder if other non-Nissan Garmins will work same.
The 2 advantages of the Nissan housing is that when you are not using it just flip it down and it is not conspicuous. Also it is hardwired to the switched power so it powers off with the truck.Iedit: i guess having it hardwire would be an advantage but i like to hide mine when parked. so i can plug it into the outlet and hide while charging.
It's been stated on here before. Any of the 700 series Garmins should work as they use the same mounting ball and have the same type of connector at the bottom.I want to get a better unit than the 750 or 760, crap someone must be able to try this out.
