I did a search and didn't find anyone having this problem. I noticed the bed liner was bubbled up on my truck so I cut it open to find this under it. Unsure what I'm going to do at the moment. No rust at all under the truck, I've taken very good care of it.

go to the dealer and ***** till they give you a new bed. that much rust under a factory spray on bed liner is unacceptable.
I sent him a picture of it and he says they can't do anything. I really can't stand the service guy at my local dealer. Wouldn't mind running my fist into his face. Maybe I will try another dealer. One of the main reasons I paid for the factory liner is my other truck was rusting under the plastic liner.

Nissan had a repair kit for it but not when its that far gone and its the same warranty as paint which is not much of a warranty.

Looks terrible man, take it to another dealer.

...give me a plastic bedliner any day.
How bout it! I wanted to buy the truck without the nissan liner because it just looked cheap but I really wanted the track system. The truck is completely out of warranty but another try won't hurt. If they won't do anything I'm not even sure what to have done with it.

If they wont give you any love, i'd sand it down or use a wire wheel, tape that area off and cover it with the bedliner spray you can get at Advance Auto.

I like the plastic bedliner in my old Hardbody. I could literally throw bricks and logs in there and not have to worry about denting or scratching the bed. Believe it or not there was only small areas of surface rust under the liner even after 10 years.

Doesn't Nissan vehicles have a rust through warranty? Look in your warranty book.

Oh man. I hope nissan helps out. Otherwise that could be pretty costly to fix properly. Especially given the amount of rust you have now. If Nissan won't help you with that I would throw a rock through every window, of every vehicle on their lot.

The rust warranty for Nissan is 60 months BUT is has to be rusted completely through for it to be covered. So in other words that is completely worthless because no vehicle is going to have holes in it in under 5 years.

Anyway, I called my other local dealer and they were much easier to deal with. I explained everything and they said my best bet and only chance is to call Nissan customer service and keep pushing them on the subject.

If nothing is done I will just grind the area down and spay some bed liner in a can over it. Planning on getting a nice bed cover on the truck before winter also.

Here are a couple of solutions that crossed my mind:
1. Bug Nissan about it
2. Grind and bedline the area and hope no other spots show up
3. Remove all the bedliner material, remove contaminants, and start over
4. Find a bed from salvage
5. Wait for a Tacoma owner to chime in and brag about having a rust free plastic composite bed.

Get a good rust retarder (http://www.por15.com) to arrest it. If you grind too much you'll perforate it.
