Just curious how long everyone's factory battery lasted, or is lasting. I have an '06, and mine died today. Strange- it ran fine all last week- even this morning and after work this afternoon. Stopped to get gas on the way home, filled up, went to crank the engine- nothing, not even a click.

Alternator tested ok, but the battery crapped out under load- had plenty of water in it too. This spontaneous death of a battery happen to anyone?

Mine lasted just shy of 4 years and only 29K miles. Not too bad I guess. The more electrical crap you have installed the more likely you will have problems.

Head to your favorite auto-parts store and purchase a 72 month battery or better and install it in the parking lot with their tools and go home happier. ;)

Avoid the stealership at ALL cost and do your own work as they will bend you over your tailgate and have their way with you and grin. :)

At my 45k service they said the battery was about through, this was in February. So it lasted a bit over five years - but I replaced it before failure.

FYI the new Nissan batteries at the dealer have a 84 month warranty.

My factory battery went out last year while I was on vacation in Las Vegas. It lasted about 2 1/2 years and died. I am glad I was on Nellis AFB. The manager helped me to the front of the line in a battery replacement since I was from out of town.

I think Nissan had a batch of batteries where the cells had bad connections. Mine did the same thing, enought to turn on lights, roll windows, but not even remotely turn the starter. If a connection between cells goes bad, I believe this will cause a catastrophic failure of the battery at random, like one good jolt during previous drive breaks a link, next time you go to start, nothing.

Same thing happened on my Titan and my sister's pathfinder. Replaced under warranty then, it was OOW on the frontier.

My battery died a couple times if I ran the radio without the truck running for longer than 15 minutes, popped the caps and it was almost completely dry! that was just after I bought it a year ago Jan, I filled it with water and it ran great until about 3 weeks ago when I purchased a new one just because :D

My '06 had the battery go out this last December. Mine went pretty quickly, but I was able to start it once or twice after I knew it was starting to go. Enough to get me to Costco for a 100 month warranty battery.

Thats exactly what happened. Interior lights, CD player, and HVAC controls worked fine, but turning on the headlights, or trying to start the engine made the dash lights go dull and needles flutter. I kept hearing a clicking sound from the IPDM, and thought it was going to be something expensive.

The thing is, I HAD to drive through about 4.5 ft of flood waters last week to escape our neighborhood, so that got me thinking it was the computer or IPDM, alternator, - something other than the battery. Everything else checked out ok, but I still felt like a dumbass. I never had a battery do that to me before.
