Exhaust

Alright here's the deal, I'm thinking on getting headers and exhaust for my Nismo. What I'm looking for from the forum family is anyone that has some video or audio clips of what their aftermarket exhaust sounds like both inside and outsid of the cab. I don't want to get anything annoying, but something with a decent note. I found some vids on youtube, but they are mostly just drive by's, or someone sitting in the driveway reving the engine, that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for what it sounds like in the cab, while driving down the highway, or going threw the gears.

So if you have it, or have the ability to create it, lets hear your aftermarket exhaust. Thanks everyone.

Last post in that thread has my setup covered from the driveway reving, in cab around town and a take off out of my driveway. Not great clips, but I've got a similar set up to what you're looking for. Lots of other good ones in that thread too!
If you have a V6 I would not change it, I put a Magnaflow on my truck for three days and had my stocker welded back in place. Basically it sounded like an 80's V6 Camaro with a cherry bomb for a muffler. Tons of resonance in the cabin, lots of annoying and embarrassing sound outside. Definitely not a cool sound like a V8 would have.
here is mine, and I have an outside video of it revving.

Catbacks are a good option, I've got he JBA and very happy with it.

Headers are more work then worth, IMHO

I have a gibson exhaust and love it

Gibson exhaust sounds
I think the problem with the magnaflow is the fact its a magnaflow. I have a flowmaster on my truck, thats all I could afford to do for now, and I love the sound. At high rpm the exhaust starts to sound a bit high pitched but if you notice thats just how the frontier sounds in high rpm. When I had mine done I wanted a magnaflow and the shop told me not to waste my money because they sound horrible on Frontiers, not to mention the fact the magnaflow is about $40 more!
hunterdan,

That sounds great, my only concern would be if it is too loud at cruising speed.

Your shop is very wrong. Many are. I had a local shop quite awhile ago when I had them just putting on a dual in/out 2.25" flowmaster on my truck, that I was going too big with the 2.25". And the rest of the exhaust was still stock. They thought that was too much flow??? I have twice the flow of that now, and its still not too much. Anyway, I dont regret removing my Flowmaster at all. My current setup with dual magnaflows sound as close to a Z as you can get out of our trucks. I actually had a Z guy ask me yesterday what I did to my frontier(he had one also) because he said it sounded like his Z. But I'm not bashing Flowmasters, they do sound good on our trucks and are much better than stock.
Don't forget guys, he also has the supercharger so a free flowing exhaust will help him a bit. I vote for DT LTs, HF CATs then something in the 2.25 range out. You could go 2.5 but that may be a little much. Also either an X pipe with duals or a dual in/out with it dumped to the side. This should get you the best performance.

Sounds like a good suggestion. I would also say get pretty long or big freeflowing mufflers to help keep the sound moderate. These engines get pretty loud when messing with the cats.
Yeah I have Magnaflows and would say that the person who said they sound bad on a Frontier doesn't know what he is talking about. Mine sound amazing. The perfect level of deepness. Not to loud on the Highway. I have Highflow rear cats to a 3" Magnaflow then out. I get compliments all the time. I love my setup.
Just stating my opinion friend. I was told they dont sound good and a friend of mine has a magnaflow on his Pathfinder and I dont like the way it sounds. Could be just the muffler he put but I was told they are pointless because they dont make any noise unless your full throttle and thats when they sound like crap and after hearing my friends Pathfinder I second the motion. I'm not saying dont do it its a horrible idea, its just my personal opinion. :itsfriday:
