Hey all,

waiting for my stainless exhaust system from Gibson and have a ? for my fellow forum members:

what is the difference between a standard exhaust tip & an intercooled one ?

went looking for something different then normal and saw a 'DUAL WALLED INTERCOOLED" tip that i like for my truck but not sure if its better/worse then a standard stainless tip

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I'm waaay out of my league answering an exhaust question, but I think a double-walled tip provides air space between the nice, shiny outside and the hot inner wall which sleeves over the exhaust pipe. The air space allows the nice shiny outside to stay cooler, so as to not discolor from the heat.

I wish someone made an aftermarket tip for SEs, but the 3-1/8" OD at the flared pipe end is an odd size, plus there's only about 3" of length at that OD to fasten it on.

Just take it to a shop and have them cut it off and weld a tip on. Depending on the tip it would be no more than $40.
the tip that comes with the gibson is a very nice tip and looks good.
