I just replaced my canister and vent solenoid. I ran the vent tube to the inside of the left tail light and put a fuel filter on the end.

Would the fuel vapor build up pose a fire hazard with the heat from the tail lights?

I highly doubt it. I've had mine vented there for nearly a year now with no fire issues. I am having dust issues still though and will be attempting to move the vent somewhere else.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it would pose a problem. I'll check the filter once a month. I forgot to add that I also took the plastic filter or what ever it is out of the vent line. I cut the top off and it was 1/3 full of dust.

Mine may be an isolated case as I see 4 miles of dusty dirt road daily. But I do know that the tail light areas seem to collect much more dirt than other parts under the bed.

I stuffed some foam in the open areas and it cuts down the dust quit a bit.

I live 25 miles away from the nearest pavement. All of my Frontiers had this problem as well as a Tacoma I had. My truck is not off warrantee yet (almost) and the stealer ship fixed it with a bypass to the front as well as my last frontier too.

Bamps, did the dealer run the vent tube all the way to the engine compartment? If so that might be some I would do.

I believe so but am not positive. That's my understanding of what they did. This is not a Nissan specific problem either. what mine was doing was getting clogged on the little valves above the canister. They fixed it a couple times and then did the bypass to the engine compartment. One of the probs is the things are right where the front tire kicks back dirt while the rear tosses it off to the front.
