Alright, at the behest of mike, here it it.
So a few of us (nism-Owner, Kamikaze, and myself plus my dad in his rubicon and a buddy of Kamikaze in a red jeep) went up to Evans Creek ORV. First off, it was a gorgeous day out! A few of us aired down just before getting onto the FS Road that takes you to Evans Creek. We got maybe a mile in before we were driving through fresh powder. We got to the park and just followed FS 7920 looking for some trails that our truck would be able to fit on seeing as how a lot of the trails are "jeep" trails.
We found a hill where we all had some fun climbing up and heading back down. Everyone kind of "getting a feel" for driving in these conditions.
Anyway, we got to the 199/519 trail and started heading up. Kamikaze was taking the lead followed by me and then nism-Owner. With the fresh powder the lead person had a bit more grip and about 150 ft in I started to slide a bit. Tried backing up, tried 4-hi, 4-lo, locker and was getting nothing. After a few minutes and the "rocking left and right while gunning it some" method I was able to finally get to more level spot and keep going. Problem was, nism-Owner had stopped while I was trying to get traction and now he had the same issue. Around the same time Kamikaze was heading back down cause the snow just got worse the higher up the trail went. Now keep in mind this is the trail I wrote about a few weeks ago in the thread "AWD does not mean Off-road" or something like that. What a difference snow can make!
So we backed down the trail onto the FS road and kept going on looking for another trail to try. I'm overall just enjoying the ride and the scenery. Here and there someone would slip a bit or need to take a couple runs at a certain spot. But no real issues. We head down a slight decline that opened up so we pulled off to the side to get out, stretch the legs, etc. The jeep bringing up the rear hit a patch of really packed down snow from the trucks driving over it and actually slid down the decline. Gave nism-Owner a nice little kiss on the rear bumper. Kind of on that note and the fact that the FS road continued declining we decided to head back towards the entrance and try FS 7930 to find a couple trails. Once again we were rolling over fresh powder with me in the lead this time. And once again, just on the FS road, we got a fair amount of "4x4ing" in. We even found a couple tricky spots that Kamikaze and myself made through and ended up and a small clearing. But the red jeep was not so lucky and got stuck at the "tricky spot". So I backed up to him, strapped up and pulled him to the clearing. Meanwhile, nism-Owner and my dad in the rubicon were making their way back down the trail. Being as my dad was in a short wheel base jeep he opted to try turning around and got hung up in the rear. So the 3 of us turned around in that small and rolled up to nism-Owner helping my dad winch out from his predicament. Once they found a tree that would work (like 25 yards off the trail) we got him turned around and started heading out.
So at this point we've out and about for around 5 hours. So we decided to call it a day. We headed back out. When we got to the entrance all the snow on the ground was gone for the rest of the trip out. We aired back up and everyone headed out. It was a great time. I'm glad Kamikaze and nism -Owner could make it.
nism-Owner has posted a few pics in the Northwest forum. I'm sure everyone has a bunch more pics that will be on here in the next couple days.
Thanks Everyone!!
