engine swaps

okay heres the deal, im really sick of the little v6 in the fronty, and ive been toying with the idea of a V8. and then theres my friend putting a lexus V8 in his 4runner lol. so i guess i gotta keep up right? lol. so has anyone done a V8 swap into a fronty yet? or seen any done, or have any info at all on one? ive been looking all over, havnt found a single swap. not even a beefed up v6 swap. whats out there?

you can always mount the intercooler on top of the engine like the WRX. but then you'll need a coustom hood. or cut your stock hood the install a hood scoop of your chose.
Or get a hood from the Euopean Navarra, their turbo diesel has the intercooler mounted on top of the engine!
Check out Ebay for cheap intercoolers. There are all kinds on there. To get decent air flow you'll probably need a front mount. Maybe check out www.forgemotorsport.com or www.atpturbo.com, they've both got lots of intercoolers/piping components.
badass, i didnt realize you can mount them on top of the engine, thats what ill do, because i planned on running a 2" cowl hood. but maybe ill step it up to like 3 or 4, anything to get that to fit under the hood, the farther away from mud the better! lol

i have a complete 5.6 from a titan waiting in my garage to go in my 08 frontier. big project havent found time to do it yet.

got it for 2k wrecked titan and has 17k miles on it.

i got a deal but i just havent gotten into the headache of a swap for the weekend, so im putting it off for a year ,

the motor bolts up to my exisiting trans, and i will deff get some pics up here in a week or so, its about an hour away at my sisters house.

Isn't our adapter plates different thou? Also our gearing in our trans?

and here I though it was old news that the 5.6 bolts right up to our autos (since they're the same tranny as in the titan)...

pretty sure it was covered in one of the previous threads about the swap on the X that the factory did.

Hmmm, I thought they put in a titan tranny...cause the bolt patterns were different.

holy $hit this thread is old, no way in hell is a vg30dett gonna fit in the engine bay of a gen 1 frontier, hell the vg33e is a tight sqeeze. that being said did he ever swap it in? a vq35 from a 01-04 pathy woulda been better.

i thought we talked about a vk swap in a 2nd gen frontier before like 5 times?

Its a WD21 pathfinder...but you get my point. Bolts right in.

yeah im gen2 anyway with a motor from an 06 titan. so im good. just wasnt sure with all the computer problems yet and havent found anyone to make me a stand alone if i cant get the computers matched up and working. so i wanna wait untill i know what im getting myself into before all this, or i could just carb it and **** the stand alone, and have all motor. hahahahahahahahahaha:)

yeah but the turbos aren't bolted on the engine yet, thats gonna be a tight sqeeze may have to "modify" the wheel well to get the turbo to fit properly. if nissan didn't detune the vg33 from the factory with 8.9 compression and small camshafts, and got rid of the 2nd set of cats for non cali trucks, these wouldn't be half bad engines, anyway a 300zx engine wouldn't be bad but say goodbye to the low end tq.
hahaha dude thats not really a tight fit at all. have you ever done a motor swap? anything is possible you just have to make it work.

and here is a pure example thats an ls1 in a miata, they are also adding two turbos to it. I rest my case.

ls1s are overrated, good engines but god damn just leave them in camaros trans ams and corvettes.
