I have a 2007 XE w/ auto transmission, about 27,000 miles. Everything is stock. I have had for 1 month.

What is happing is if i am going about 30 mph and rpm is at about 2000, if i take my foot off the gas the rpm goes down to about 1200 rpm and the speed stays at about 20 mph. I think it will stay there forever. If i stop, the rpm goes down to normal about 700rpm.

If i am stopped and not in gear, increase rpm to about 2-3000 , take foot off the gas, the rpm goes down to normal, about 700.

Still under warranty for 2 months/9000 miles. I took it to the Nissan dealer , they checked everything, reset the computer, when i picked it up they said this is normal, because of the lock-up torque converter.

They didn't have a xe automatic , i wanted to try another one.

Anyone's xe auto doing this, is the dealer correct ?

Thanks for answering.

torque converter lock up at 0% throttle and when you get back on it the load is low enough that it stays locked when you cruise at 20mph.

whats wrong again?

Thanks for the reply, i guess i am use to a little back presure to slow down the engine more.
I checked it closer now that i have driven it a little, now when i am going about 2000rpm w/o od and let off the gas the rpm goes down to about 1100 rpm and sometimes bounces back up to about 1250 rpm.
Still doesen't seem normal to me. But they did help it by reseting the ECM.
I am still going to drive a new one at a dealer an see how it acts.

Thanks again.

AT ... RPM & Speed

My '07 XE with the AT seemed strange too.
The RPMs and speed conditions were not consistant plus there was a "slop" in the torque engage.
Added 1 pint of Matic J juice.
"Slop" went away, .... and maybe the RPM readings are normal.
