OK, I need some people with knowledge.
I found a 15 frontier pro4x with 3709.7 miles at an auction. It was hit hard at the gas tank area and now won't start. The truck has frame damage along withe major body damage. I'm thinking I should be able to get it for under 2g.

I have an 06 with too many miles.
Will this eng and trans work in my truck.

As an extra it's a pro4x with the e locker, leather int, roof rack etc....

Oh also the 4th digit in the vin for the 2015 is an A.

The engine should, assuming they are both VQ40DE. The transmission, if they are automatic, might be a problem, as the Pro4x has hill descent and hill assist and would have a different valve body. You might be able to put your 06 valve body on the newer trans, as they are both RE5's, but don't quote me on that. If there are manual transmission, they'll likely swap.

Probably need to use the ecu and harness from the 2015 I would think.

I would just swap the long blocks over and sell the Pro4X transmission (automatic trans is easy to sell because of coolant contamination).

Then swap in the rear axle and use a basic switch to activate the locker.

Is your current truck a V6 or 4cyl? The V6 has been the same since 2005
