I have an '05 LE Crew Cab. I had my truck in to the dealership for routine service (because the prior owner bought an extended service plan that included oil changes) and they recommend to me a coolant flush service and they also said that the EGR ports are 70% clogged and that I should have that serviced to prevent future problems with the O2 sensors, catalytic converters, etc.

I take this information to a shop where I would normally have my truck serviced because I trust them and they tell me that the 4.0L engines do not have an EGR system at all, there's nothing to service.

Anybody have any idea to what the dealership service dept was referring?

Thanks.

Yes They Do Have Egr, But Its Passive Through The Phazing Of The Vvts Units And Cam Timing Through Reversion Of Exhaust Gases(this Is How Catalytic Convertor Pieces Get Sucked Back Into The Engine Destroying It When They Break Aprart)...so In A Word, Who Ever Told You That You Need The Egr Cleaned Is Full Of It And Confusing Theirs Cars...er Trucks
Maybe You Should Go Have It Done And See If They Admit To Oops We Had A Brain Fart...( Ive Done It Looking At Brakes Past The Wheels, Recommended Pads, Sold Em, Removed The Wheels And Oops I Must Have Been Drinking You Dont Need Pads, And Didnt Put Them On...but At Least I Can Admit It :) )
While I Wouldnt Normally Recommend Or Like To Do This, If They Dont Admit To It And Say They Did It, Then Grab The Service Manager And Ask Them To Show You The Egr Valve, And Ask How They Cleaned The Ports???
And Hey Since You Cheated Me, Ill Take My Money Back, And Oil Change For Free :)
