I don't know if anyone has seen this article on the Internet yet. Its about how to engage the locker in all situations:

I guess the locker only works in 4-LO? Would this be a beneficial mod, even for those who do little/moderate wheeling? I'm wondering if Nissan only had the locker work when it does do reduce wear. What are your thoughts?

Bookmarked though. Thats pretty cool, I might look into that after I know a little more about how durable the locker is. That would be one expensive thing to fix if it broke and I doubt the dealership looks too kindly on that mod.

what would the benifit to doing this be ? besides the full control of the locker.

i garuntee that nissan made it only work in 4lo cuz some moron would have it on driving around town in 2wd and tear up the rear end, and nissan would have to pay for it big time cuz of warrenty lol. and really there is no reason you need your locker on in 2wd or 4 hi unless your being dumb and messing around, there is very few situations you need it in 4low. but on occasion yes. i dont see any benefit to having the locker work in 2wd or 4hi.
