Dual exhaust, side or rear exit

2171 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  OkieScot
I am going to Kinney's in Bedford, Texas in a couple of weeks to finally get the exhaust
I have been waiting for since March. Tired of waiting on a catback.

I shall probably go with a single in dual out or dual in dual out system. I have been
trying to decide if I want the exhaust to exit at the rear or at the side.

I always liked the rear exit most of my life, but with my 2000 Frontier XE there was
not enough room to do that. They made a side exit, but they used round angle cut
tips. The tips were turned so that the angle was from front to back instead of from top to bottom. This let the tips run parallel with the side of the truck.

I actually liked it and had quite a few compliments on the way it looked. Does anybody
have any pros or cons of doing it either way? How about a preference as to which
way it is routed?

Thank you,

true duals

Thank you for your reply to my post. I have an '05 LE KC and I just had a true dual
exhaust installed by Kinney's in Bedford, texas. It uses a dual in dual out Flo-Pro muf-
fler and a pair of 12" resonators to keep it from being too raspy sounding.

The duals exit out the same place the stock exhaust does on the "05 and has a pair
of double wall stainless steel tips. Ii wish I had seen your post before I had mine
done as I did not get stainless steel pipes on mine.

My does sound great though and no cabin noise up to 75 mph. A nice mellow sound.

Silver SE 05,

The total cost was $583.75, but $150 of that was because I wanted double wall
stainless steel tips that carry a lifetime warranty. The rest of the system has a
three year warranty. The welds have a life time warranty as well.

I drove 200 miles to have this done and I consider it time and money well spent.
They have over 600 sound/video clips of the different exhaust systems.

I have been trying to get a friend to come over to put my pictures on line for me since
I am computer illiterate. We have had a hard time getting a weekend day off together.
He is supposed to be over this sunday afternoon so hopefully I'll have pictures ready
next week.
