I am getting ready to spend a weekend away at a tractor show, and I started thinking about this.. what a great way to crash in the truck.

Just wondering if anyone has used one of these.

Yes, a few members here have them. a good air mattress makes all the difference. Go to the search area and it should pull up the posts. Best part is you're off the ground if it rains.

The only negative thing that I have heard from anyone is that if you have the short bed, it can be a little tight if you are tall.

Also, they do make universal ones that are usually cheaper then the Nissan one so it may be worth looking around to see if you can find a better one then OEM that fits your needs.

Lastly, if you are using this on a camping trip and need to still use the bed, if you build a raised platform using the 2x4or6s across the bed with plywood and something tied into the bed extender, you can still store stuff in the bed while you sleep.

OEM nissan tent super cool

On one of our trips here in SO CAL we had a guy bring one out right from the dealer and set it up. It was super cool! If I needed one I'd get it! I usually just sleep in the truck bed no tent, doesn't get that cold were I go....

I use a bed rug plus a thin type air matress. What I'm getting at here is if you go and get some 4" think or more air matress your going to be bummed.
They suck. If you however get the thin design made for hiking you will be very pleased, and if you do not want a bed rug in your truck all the time you could bring a roll-up mat to go under the thin air mattress, that is to level out the ribs on the bed.

Bed tent is very cool! btw this guy had the short bed and it went out over the tail gate for leg room plus another section that was covering the door if it were raining stuck out beyond that on top. On this picture they have that part rolled up.

One of the issues I have with the OEM tent is that it requires an empty bed. I'm more inclined to go with a utilitrac raised platform and normal tent or perhaps one of the cot/bivy tents.

Interesting tent/cot but man you really can't do much in that! ;)

One of the first things I do when I get to camp is remove everything from my truck so I can go jump her with out stuff flying everywhere. But I can see your point if your one of these guys that uses the bed to keep stuff in.
In fact I have seen some guys with so much it would be a total project to remove everything. However in that case I would not recomend the truck tent.

I think they're cool. I'm in the market for a new tent (more family members now) and these look like a great solution for car camping anyway. I have a CC long bed, so I need to make sure I get the King Cab size when I order one.

I have one. My wife and I took it camping a couple of weeks ago. It worked great, but it was a little tight for both of us and our dog. I have the airbedz mattress, which would work great for one person, but we put a cheap queen size air mattress on top of it so we have a queen size bed. We're taking out again this weekend, but this tmie without the dog.
