Here in SoCal, if your going to run out in the desert, you are supposed to be running a whip. I made this quick connect/disconnect set up for about $5 minus the actual whip and mount. The bracket mounts to the side track. here is the parts list from Home depot

1 "L" shaped bracket $2.93(found in the lumber area, holes already drilled)
2 1/2" fender washers ( fits in the track, nicely)
1 replacement handle knobs and bolts for a lawnmower $2.99 FOR PACK OF 2.

What do you think? there could be many other uses for this set up.

I like that idea...
If I got a bracket that was taller and allowed it to go over the top of the bed rail I could still close the bed cover (good enough for temporary use)..
